Get in Line Brother & Righten That Wrong -- the Offshore Mess

I read this morning on the WSJ Blog that DOJ has filed its initial post UBS-deferred prosecution agreement indictment against an alleged U.S. tax cheat using an offshore account. See blog discussions on UBS here.

This should be a further wake-up call for those not yet in the cross-hairs to take advantage of the voluntary disclosure initiative which I discuss in blogs here.

I am reminded of the following song written by Lester Flatt and sung by he and Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys. In the immortal words of this song, these taxpayers should get on their "knees and righten that wrong."

Enjoy and take to heart these lyrics:

Get in Line Brother
Written by Lester Flatt

Oh, listen to me sinners don't you want to go
For some day he's comin' back again you know
If that wrong ain't righted you'll be lost in sin
Get in line brother, he will take you in
Get in line brother if you wanna go home
Get on your knees and righten that wrong
Then you'll be singing this old time song
Get in line brother, if you wanna go home

If I could tell you brother just how I feel
Then I'm sure you'll know the love of God is real
Then you'll be praying while I sing this song
Get in line, brother, if you wanna go home

Get in line brother if you wanna go home
Get on your knees and righten that wrong
Then you'll be singing this old time song
Get in line brother, if you wanna go home

Now listen to me Satan I have righted that wrong
Got a one-way ticket and I'm goin' home
I've got no worries as I sing this song
Get in line brother, if you wanna go home

Get in line brother if you wanna go home
Get on your knees and righten that wrong
Then you'll be singing this old time song
Get in line brother, if you wanna go home

By the way, for you bluegrass trivia fans, Lester Flatt, the author of Get In Line, Brother, is the same person that Earl Scruggs was referring to when he told Pearl that Lester Flatt slicks his hair with possum fat.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Come let us see our girl,
Are you still our valentine, Do you still look so divine?
Come and let us see our darling Pearl.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Don't give your love too Earl.
I have got a horse and mule, forty acres near a school.
We'll be happy as two bugs.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, come be my lovin' girl.
Don't you marry Lester Flatt, he slicks his hair with 'possum fat.
Change your name to Mrs. Earl Scruggs.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Come let us see our girl,
Are you still our valentine, Do you still look so divine?
Come and let us see our darling Pearl.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, You'll git no love from Earl.
This here man is such a sap,
He won't hold you on his lap. Unless you are an old five string banjo.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, He's nutty as a squirrel.
If you'll be Mrs. Scruggs, We will live on kiss n' hugs.
Like Juliet and Romeo.

Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Come let us see our girl,
Are you still our valentine, Do you still look so divine?
Come and let us see our darling Pearl.
